How Old are They?

I have seen speculation on the ages of The Backyardigans that varies over a good range, from preschoolers to even teenagers. I think there are a few ways to go at this, from the bare "what does documentation say" to "how do they think and act and talk", etc...

I'm guessing... 5-7 years old. My main evidence:
* Most of the other Nick Jr. protagonists fall into this age range; Dora is 7, Kai-Lan is 6, the Bubble Guppies are 6, etc. Even Blue from Blue's Clues is 5 years old.
* According to old wiki revisions, Dave Palmer (a episode director for the show) said Uniqua is around 6 years old, giving us a good idea of the other's ages.
* Most preschool show protagonists are called "preschoolers" in press/internal material, even when they aren't.
